01 Jul ANOTHER GP3 PODIUM FOR FACU REGALIA
Argentina´s driver managed to finish on the podium yesterday, being 3rd, and during today´s race the ART Grand Prix driver was 5th, scoring valuable points for the overall classification.
Two weeks ago Facu Regalia achieved a podium in Valencia, and again succeeded on Saturday at Silverstone, where he was once again showing an outstanding performance. Third in qualifications, Regalia was passed by his teammate Conor Daly at the start, but he was sanctioned due to that he started too quickly before the traffic-light had been switched off. The safety car came out on lap five due to the accident by the two cars and remained on the track until the eleventh lap, the same moment when Daly made hisdrive-through and Regalia reached back to podium place. Although he could not pass Kevin Korjus, Regaliaremained at third until the end of the fifteen laps. “I didn´t make ??a particularly good start. The pace was not bad,but I had to fight a lot with the car, more than I expected. The positive is that the problems we had with the car was concerning the back-part, and not the trunk like in Barcelona. I think we had chances to reach the second podium, but the car skidded too much at the start and then I was back fighting with Korjus“, Regalia said stressing the positive; “I generally made ??another podium place, the second in a row, and scoring valuable points for the overall classification. Tomorrow I will start sixth on the grid, and my objective again is to target the podium. It would begreat if we did achieve it, and if not, intend to pass many cars to move up. We are going to make some changes in my Dallara, to see if tomorrow we can improve the car. Before I say goodbye, I would like to dedicate this podium toall my family and a good friend who recently lost his mother“.
For the second race, the Argentine started in sixth position, and after a good start he got behind the Russian Kvyat in fifth place, the same position in which he finished the race.
He started with a good pace from the first round, the difficulty of this circuit to pass other cars made ??him after fifteen laps to remain in fifth place, a good result adding valuable points to the overall classification and was also the first to reach the goal from his team ART Grand Prix.
“We met today’s goals, we didn´t reach the podium but managed to remain fifth during the whole race. I made a good start, passing Ellinas and it was a shame that the straight at Silverstone is a bit short and Kvyat could block me and avoid my overtaking. At first I had a good pace but it was difficult to pass that and as we had short of gas in the car, I had to leave struggling with Kvyat and not damage the tires and get a good classification“, said Regalia. “Today was a good day, because now I´m lying 6th overall, but 4th and 5th are three and one points away from me, and we reduced the gap with the leader. So, we reached our targets at Silverstone. Now Nürburgring, which is one of my favorite circuits, let´s see what the weather is like there, rain or dry, but we will be prepared for everything“, saidthe Argentine from ART Grand Prix.
As Regalia commented, the next race is already next week in Nürburgring, a track where he always achieved good results from the Formula BMW Europe and, last season he finished on the podium in the European F3 Open.
