02 Nov Discover the 2022 Varlion collection
Summum, Pro, Black, Advanced Black, Advanced, ISTV, One and Junior. ¿What’s the difference between them?
Within the 2022 Varlion collection we find a total of 29 rackets that we can classify into eight different lines designed for all kind of players. If you are looking for a padel racket and you aren’t sure which one to choose, pay attention to this article because we are going to analyze the differences between the eight Varlion lines:
Within the SUMMUM line we find five rackets. The already known Maxima Summum Prisma, Bourne Summum Prisma and Lethal Weapon Summum Prisma remain in the 2022 catalog with their summer (S) and winter (W) versions. These three rackets show their 12K fabrics in a design with a copper, aluminum and carbon finish that give it a more exclusive touch. The three models are made with two types of rubber, so that players can choose depending on the ambient temperature. So, we find a softer racket, called “W”, recommended to be used with temperatures below 25ºC; and another harder, called “S”, recommended for use with temperatures above 25ºC.
Within the Summum line this year two new rackets were presented, the Maxima Summum Prisma Radio and the Bourne Summum Prisma Radio. These two models came with a revolutionary concept that includes RADIO technology, which represents a great innovation in the manufacture, resistance and performance of padel rackets. Historically, all rackets have been made in a mold, and then drilled to make the holes on the plane. However, with RADIO technology, the rubber is already perforated from the mold itself. This process increases the resistance of the core providing great benefits. In addition, these two new models include another new technology called AIRFLOW, which replaces some of the classic round holes with elongated ones that are located near the perimeter of the blade to increase the passage of air in the most aerodynamic area. These holes are also manufactured following Radio technology (materials are pierced before being introduced into the mould).
The five rackets of the SUMMUM series have several characteristics in common:
- PRISMA frame: provides better maneuverability and acceleration capacity on all shots. Includes the PRISMA protector.
- HANDLESAFETY: offers a 100% secure grip because the string goes through the three walls of the grip and comes out on both sides of the rim, giving 100% grip security and preventing the player from having to twist the string around his wrist to feel more comfortable and secure in his grip.
- SLICE texture: a roughness on the face that improves the effect produced when hitting the ball.
- SUMMUM technology: comes with a longer grip, a 1 centimeter larger hitting surface, a wider sweet spot and a small diffuser in the heart (DIFFUSOR WINGS) that provides more speed and precision.
The PRO line is made up of 3 advanced level rackets. They all share a soft touch and the same characteristics in terms of construction, technologies and materials, only the shape and aesthetics change:
The three rackets of this line are manufactured using a bidirectional carbon tubular. The core is made of 38mm low hardness EVA Hypersoft rubber, and is laminated with layers of carbon and fiberglass fabric. The heart is also reinforced with carbon fiber. All fabrics are impregnated with Varlion’s exclusive VAR-FLEX epoxy resin, and also coated with a layer of titanium dioxide. Finally, they have gradual holes (GRADUAL HOLES technology) with holes of different sizes to achieve a more homogeneous hit.
As the rackets in the Summum line, these three models are designed with the PRISMA frame and include a protector that adapts to this shape with only seven grams of weight to protect them from possible knocks and scratches. We also find the rough SLICE texture, printed in direct 3D screen printing that increases the effects of blows, and the HANDLESAFETY technology provides us with 100% grip security.
The Black line has four rackets made of a bidirectional carbon tube and a 38mm medium-hard Hypersoft EVA core, laminated with layers of fiberglass fabric. The heart is also reinforced with carbon fiber. All fabrics are impregnated with Varlion’s exclusive VAR-FLEX epoxy resin, to obtain maximum elasticity and resistance, and are also coated with a layer of titanium dioxide. They all come with the HANDLESAFETY.
We start talking about two rackets that include the SUMMUM technology, whose advantages we have already mentioned earlier in this article:
The other two models in this line are also really interesting, as they include the DIFUSOR WINGS to improve the passage of air and the HEXAGON technology that will give the racket rigidity. On the striking surface they have the rough HEXATEX texture to facilitate hitting with effects, and a gradual perforation that provides a more homogeneous hit:
ADVANCED BLACK SERIES
The Advanced Black line is for sale at more affordable prices, and offers the same construction features and technologies as the Difusor Carbon Black rackets just mentioned. In this line we find three rackets of three different shapes with which to adapt to any type of player:
The new Advanced line has three racket whose objective is to satisfy advanced level players, who like rackets with a softer touch. They are made in the same way, but with a different shape:
- BOURNE CARBON TI: Thanks to its diamond shape, the main characteristic is power.
- LW CARBON TI: Due to its round shape, the main characteristic of this model is control.
- LW CARBON TI WOMAN: As the previous one, its main feature is control. They differ from each other by having a more feminine aesthetic design.
In this line we find the same core and heart as in the Black and Advanced Black, as well as other technologies that we have already talked about such as HEXAFORCE, the rough texture SLICE or HANDLESAFETY. Finally, note that they have a gradual hole (ADAPTED & GRADUAL HOLES) with holes of different sizes that follow the shape of the plane and thus achieve a more homogeneous hit.
The ITSV line is very interesting for mid-level players who want rackets with which to feel comfortable on the court and improve their technique in matches and training. There are three models at very affordable prices, depending on the form, the characteristics vary.
In the three rackets the core is made of low-hardness 38mm EVA Hypersoft and it’s laminated by layers of fiberglass fabric. The heart area is reinforced with carbon fiber fabric and impregnated with Varlion’s exclusive VAR-FLEX epoxy resin, to obtain maximum elasticity and resistance, and covered by a layer of titanium dioxide.
Due this is a soft racket, the core has high rebound characteristics. The technical result is a great ball output despite not applying much power in the hit. On the other hand, the frame is designed following HEXAGON technology, whose purpose is to provide rigidity to the structure of the racket; and holes have been applied through ADAPTED & GRADUAL HOLES technology, with holes of different sizes that follow the shape of the surface, to achieve a more homogeneous hit. And, finally, it is worth mentioning the security system on
the handle, called HANDLESAFETY, with which we obtain 100% comfort and grip security.
The ONE line is designed to reach all those players who are starting out and are looking for a padel racket at an entry price with the quality guarantee of a brand like Varlion. In this line we find three soft rackets with high rebound and great ball output that will be very comfortable if you are learning to play:

In the Junior rline we find the MAXIMA SUMMUM JUNIOR, a model recommended for children between 7 and 11 years old. It has a rounded teardrop shape that facilitates control in the game. One of the main characteristics of the SUMMUM range rackets (the highest range in the collection) has been applied to its design: a longer handle that allows the little ones to hit forehands or backhands with both hands. In turn, it has been manufactured with a HEXAGON frame in order to make it more rigid and resistant.
It is made of a bidirectional glass and carbon tubular, and the heart is reinforced by fiberglass fabric. Its core is made of 38mm low-hardness EVA FLEXCORE, laminated with plain fiberglass fabric and impregnated with Varlion’s exclusive VAR-FLEX epoxy resin, and covered with a layer of titanium dioxide.
It also includes technologies that we have already seen such as ADAPTED & GRADUAL HOLES or HANDLESAFETY. There is a version known as MAXIMA SUMMUM JUNIOR PANSY that has the same characteristics, but with a more feminine cosmetic.
