The ladies finals, which started on the occasion of Valladolid Town VII tournament, turned out to be much more unequal than expected. The previous matches between Carolina Navarro, Cecilia Reiter and Iciar Montes, Cata Tenorio seemed to foresee an exciting, long and balanced game.

However, the outcome was quite different: Navarro –Reiteir double willing to take their revenge since their last match in Barcelona, won the game in less than one hour by 6-2, 6-1 and finally lifted their first trophy of the season.

Montes and Tenorio tried to fight back and changed their play by using different tactics and made a great physical effort on the central court of the Plaza Mayor but in the end they were beaten by the new champions.

Carolina Navarro and Cecilia Reiter bet on a dynamic, fast play which stopped completely their opponents’ hope to win and it is noteworthy to point out that they were the second seed of the tournament.

Carolina Navarro: We really wanted to get this title. Valladolid is a very special tournament and we are very pleased for this victory. Cecilia had some physical problems and even we thought we were not able to come and play in Valladolid and if we did so we would risk a more serious injury and would prevent us from competing in Alicante. Finally this didn’t happen and we could win. I congratulate Cata and Iciar for their great tournament.
