THE CHAMPIONS WITH THE VARLION CUP

Chapa Uno Hope Funds achieved their first objective and classified to play the Hurlingham Open and the Argentina Open championship. Alegría Crowne Plaza was the other team who confirmed their participation for the two most important competitions of the Triple Crown.

After different players move to other teams and several changes for teams ‘ names and strong rumors going around, the long-awaited classifying tournament the 118th Hurlingham Open and Argentina Open eventually took place.
There was a great deal of talk about what 2011 quartet versions were going to be like and the handicaps parity. But there were five teams who tried the get the two available positions:
Chapa Uno Hope Funds (32), Alegría Crowne Plaza (32), La Quinta (30), Enigma (28) y Miramar (29).

The way of competing was as follows:
Both teams of 32 goals forming part of Zone A competed against each other and the three other teams took part in a previous classification phase intended to eliminate one of three remaining teams. Miramar was the first team to say goodbye while Chapa Uno started quite well and classified in first position of their pool which allowed them to play and to beat La Quinta in order to get their classification. On the other hand Alegria must have defeated Enigma during a match which lasted two days because of the bad weather conditions.

Chapa Uno Hope Funds: Pablo Pieres 8 (6 goals), Guillermo Caset (h) 8 (6, two were penalty shots ), Rodrigo Ribeiro de Andrade 8 (4, one penalty shot) y Jaime García Huidobro 8. Total: 32.

La Quinta: Mark Tomlinson 7 (2), Joao Paulo Gannon 7 (4, one penalty shot), Julio Novillo Astrada (n) 8 (1) y Luke Tomlinson 8 (4, three penalty shots). Total: 30.

Chapa Uno Hope Funds: 2-2, 3-4, 5-6, 9-9, 11-11, 14-11 y 16-11.
